JPN 2000 L.14 Oral Version 1
Context: Your Japanese friend wants to go somewhere for a weekend getaway (Reading Week etc.) but haven’t exactly decided on where. You have narrowed down the places to go to two locations.
Task: Create a conversation with a friend, using casual form, about which place you will go. (Alternately, you can narrow this down to which hotel you will stay at or which tourist attraction you will go to). Your friend has the information about one and you know the other. Include the following:
A: Bさん、ハワイのホテルのことなんだけど。。
B: ええ
A: ちょっとインターネットでしらべてみたけど。
B: うん
A: ヒルトンハワイアンビレッジだったら、うみのそばだから、へやから海が見えるよ。
B: へえ、いいね。
A: うん、それから、スノーケリングとサーフィンもできて、プールもあるから、そこでもおよげる。
B: ふうん
A: あとは、レストランがたくさんあるから、なんでも食べられるし、アラモアナショッピングセンターにも ちかいから、アラモアナまでシャットルバスにむりょうでのれる。
B: へえ、いいね。
A: うん、Aさんのホテルは?
B: そうね。シャラトンワイキキはワイキキの中心(ちゅうしん)で、買い物とかレストランに行くのにべんり。
A: うん。
B: で、海が見えるへやと見えないへやもある。
A: ふうん
B: 金曜日のよるにフラーダンスのデモもあるから、フラーダンスがならえる。
A: へえ、いいね。そう!フラーショーも見に行こうね。
B: そうね。でもHHVよりたかい。
A: そう?じゃHHVにしようか。
B: いいよ。Aさん,よやくしてくれる?
A: いいよ。ね、Bさん、ホテルで食べるおかしを買ってくれる?
B: あ、いいよ。
A: じゃあとで、もうちょっとはなししようね。
B: そうね。。

TASK 1: Ask your Japanese friend to go somewhere for the weekend with you. Tell him/her where you’re planning to go (please make it a local-ish area), describe it (where it is etc.), and talk about what fun things you can do there. Include:
A: Bさん、来週末はひま?
B: うん、なんで?
A: いっしょにエドモントンにショッピングしに行かない?
B: エドモントン?あ、いいね。でも、ひこうきで行くと高いでしょう?
A: そうだけど、車で行くと、安いよ。ガスが30ドルぐらい。
B: へえ、そんなに安いの?
A: うん、それで、ぼくの兄はそこに住んでるから、兄のアパートにとまれるし。。。
B: へえ、じゃいいね。。
A: で、兄のアパートはウェストエドモールに近いから、十分ぐらいで行ける.
B: へえ、じゃ、そこでショッピングするの?
A: うん、それからレストランがたくさんあるから、なんでも食べられるし、遊園地もあるから、ジェットコースターに乗れるし
B: へえ、すごいね。
A: あ、そうだ!プールもあるから、泳げるし。。
B: あ、たのしそうね。
A: あっ、今クラスなんだけど、またあとで、はなししようね。
B: ええ、じゃ。。またね。
A: じゃ、また

TASK 2: Ask the person indicated to do the following favor for you

- Talking about going and doing something…
- In the midst of the conversation, ask your friend to do something (like… could you make the reservation, call to find out more information, buy the snacks etc…)
- Negotiation about where to go
